TRANSFORMING AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE: THE NEXT FRONTIER
The annual View From the Hill is quickly approaching. COMTO members from around the nation will convene on Capitol Hill on September 21, 2017, beginning at 8:00 a.m. to meet with Congressional officials and representatives to share views on the rehabilitation and revitalization of America’s Transportation Infrastructure. The speaker panel is currently in formation and will be presented as soon as it is finalized. However, topics of discussion could include
- Rebuilding America’s Infrastructure Plan
- How Public Transportation helps to build Economic Growth and Job Development
- Innovative Transportation Funding practices including, Public Private Partnerships (P3s)
- Maintaining Small Business and Minority Competitiveness in the Transportation Industry
Following the View From the Hill program, attending COMTO members will meet with their Senate and House representatives to share COMTO’s message and 2017 Legislative directives. The View From the Hill will conclude at 10:30 am. Depending on your representative’s availability, it may be best to try to if possible to schedule your meetings after 11:00 am. However, if you need to meet earlier than that, do take the available meeting time.
In preparation for your View From the Hill experience, COMTO will host an informational webinar in late August that all attendees are encouraged to join. You may also view the pre-recorded Legislation 101 webinar.
This View From the Hill session will ensure the continuation of COMTO’s mission of ensuring a level playing field and maximum participation in the transportation industries for minority individuals, businesses and communities of color.
