Members of the Council of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) Jacksonville chapter recently participated in the annual Garrett A. Morgan Shadow Day presentation for JAXPORT’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Beyond School Walls mentoring program.
Students from First Coast High School along with their mentors attended the event to:
Be enlightened on Garrett Morgan’s contributions to the transportation industry. We showed a video that highlighted Morgan’s most notable invention, the traffic light. Students participated in a short trivia game and prizes for correctly answering questions based on the video.

Founded in 1971 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC, the Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) was created to provide a forum for senior-level minority professionals in the transportation industry.
