Dear COMTO "Family",
Greetings...I
am sure you will all agree, we are witnessing a monumental moment in
our nation's history. For the first time we have a woman and an
African-American as candidates on the president/vice-president election
ballot. This is indeed an indication of the changes that are moving
the nation.
With this said, we, as an organization, must take
advantage of the opportunity to have our voice heard by getting out to
vote and encouraging others to do so as well.Your Presidents' Council Representatives: Aida Berduo Douglas (Austin), Cathy Hamilton-Kirkaldy (Dallas) and Warren Montague (Philadelphia) have issued a challenge to the Chapter Presidents - to assist with getting voters to the polls on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. I support this and am issuing the same challenge to you as an individual member.
Please ensure that your vote counts and help others make certain theirs does as well. Perhaps, give someone a ride to their poll location. Please keep in mind that as we coordinate efforts and encourage voters to go to the polls on behalf of COMTO, we must not voice
partiality towards/against any candidates or issues. We must remain
neutral in our effort no matter how strongly we may feel about a candidate or an issue.
Lastly,
I would like to provide a web link to a nonpartisan Election Protection
coalition, which was formed to ensure that all voters have an equal
opportunity to participate in the political process. Please use the
following as a resource: www.866ourvote.org.
Now is the time...the time for us to make a difference, to have our voices heard.Thank you in advance for your participation in.....COMTO Moving the Nation to get out the vote!
Sincerely,
Julie A. Cunningham
