COMTO and FTA Seek College Juniors & Seniors for Summer Intern Program
In partnership with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is looking for rising college juniors and seniors for their Careers In Transportation for Youth (CITY) Internship Program for the summer class of 2014.
The goal of the CITY Internship Program is to promote public transportation as viable career options. For ten weeks this summer, from Monday, June 2 to Friday, August 8, the interns will get hands-on experience and personal mentoring from industry professionals. These college students will have an incredible opportunity to experience firsthand, the behind-the-scenes operations of the transportation industry - what it takes to make a country move. As a bonus, they will attend COMTO’s 43rd National Meeting & Training Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia.
This year’s class will intern in eleven locations: Atlanta, GA; Denver, CO; Los Angeles, CA; New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Phoenix, AZ; San Antonio, TX; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Tampa, FL and Washington, DC. The interns will work with a variety of industry stakeholders (public and private transportation agencies and companies) on an assortment of projects. The program pays $500 a week plus a travel stipend.
The internship stresses the transportation industry's need for a variety of skills. Previous classes have included an array of majors, including accounting, business, communications, engineering, economics, geography, law, marketing, international business, Japanese studies, psychology, sociology and supply chain management.
The application process is now closed. All applicants will be notified of their status by April 15, 2014.
